When will we give up our obsession with weight/dieting and the never ending pursuit of a size 10! It seems that every time I am in the company of women be it at a professional network or social group the main topic of conversation is sharing diet regimes , detox plans and weight goals and to be honest ladies it is BORING!!
Seriously, it is time to change the record. My relationship with food and my body is pretty boring and totally predictable and I know for sure my small talk and conversation is all the better for excluding it! I know the script, I get the self-sabotage, I’ve got the T-Shirt, mug, key fob and every book on the subject, so please, please talk to me about something else.
Tell me who you are and what makes your heart sing. Share with me your greatest challenge and your greatest joy. Inspire me with your story, your passion, your legacy.
We are so much more than what we look like or what we weigh and until we get this don’t expect our teenagers to walk free of eating disorders, self harming or low self esteem any time soon. We are their role models and if we are overflowing with body hatred and a lack of self love why do we assume they will be any different?
Be kinder to yourself, you are already enough and absolutely perfect just the way you are.
